Claude Certified Architect Exam Facts: 12 Myths Checked
Claude Certified Architect exam facts, checked: 12 common claims about fee, validity, time, domains and eligibility, each labeled with its official source.
A candidate plans for a $99 fee, 90 minutes and a two-year credential. Checkout says $125, and the guide says 120 minutes and 12 months. Search for Claude Certified Architect exam facts and you will find all of these numbers, often on pages that copy each other. This post checks 12 common claims against the official exam guide and Anthropic's certification pages, and labels every answer by source.
This is a logistics post, so it maps to exam guide sections (v1.0, July 2026) rather than task statements: 3 (exam details), 4 (blueprint), 5 (scenarios), 10 (scoring), 11–12 (registration, policies) and 15 (recertification).

Which CCAR-F claims online are wrong?
Most wrong numbers are out of date. Anthropic launched the exam on March 12, 2026. On June 30, 2026 delivery moved to Pearson, badges to Credly, and the fee rose from $99 to $125. Pages written in the spring still describe the launch setup.
| # | What you may read online | What the official sources say | Label |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The exam code is CCA-F | The code is CCAR-F (exam guide; Pearson VUE page) | Official |
| 2 | It costs $99 | $125 USD. The FAQ says the price "increased from $99 to $125" effective June 30, 2026. $99 is the Associate exam's price | Official |
| 3 | It is free for the first 5,000 partner employees | Not on current official pages. The FAQ lists tier discounts instead: 50% for Select, Preferred and Global Premier; 100% for Global Premier through December 31, 2026 | Unconfirmed |
| 4 | The credential lasts 2 years | 12 months from the award date. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment (exam guide, section 15) | Official |
| 5 | You get 90 minutes | 120 minutes (exam guide). The FAQ says to plan for about 135 minutes of seat time | Official |
| 6 | You see 6 scenarios from a pool of 13 | 4 scenarios picked at random from 6 (exam guide, section 5) | Official |
| 7 | There are four domains, or domains on deployment, security and evaluation | Five domains: Agentic Architecture & Orchestration 27%, Tool Design & MCP Integration 18%, Claude Code Configuration & Workflows 20%, Prompt Engineering & Structured Output 20%, Context Management & Reliability 15% | Official |
| 8 | You must pass each domain separately | Pass or fail uses the total scaled score. Domain percentages are feedback only (exam guide, section 10) | Official |
| 9 | Anyone can register | Only people at Claude Partner Network organizations, signing in with a work email on a domain in the partner record, aged 18+ (eligibility page) | Official |
| 10 | The exam is proctored on Skilljar | Pearson VUE, online or test center. Skilljar hosts courses; ProctorFree was used before June 30, 2026 (FAQ) | Official |
| 11 | You can retake after 14 days, as often as you like | Waits of 14, 30, then 90 days, at most 4 attempts per rolling 12 months, full fee each time (exam guide, section 12) | Official |
| 12 | You need Foundations before Professional | "There's no formal prerequisite" (FAQ) | Official |
Where did the 90-minute and $99 numbers come from?
$99 was the real launch price until June 30, 2026, and it is still the Associate exam's price. The 90-minute figure appears in third-party practice test listings and in candidates' own finish times. Neither describes the current CCAR-F.
Is CCA-F the same exam as CCAR-F?
Usually. Most forums use "CCA-F" as shorthand for Architect – Foundations. But the official Associate code is CCAO-F, and at least one training provider labels its Associate course "CCA-F". Use CCAR-F with official pages and support.
Do the official sources disagree anywhere?
Yes, on the cancellation window. The exam guide (section 11) allows changes up to 24 hours before the appointment. The Pearson VUE page and the FAQ both say exams "cannot be canceled or rescheduled less than 48 hours" before it.
⚠ Plan for 48 hours. It is the stricter rule, and it is the one the booking system states. Late changes forfeit the fee.
What do candidate reports add?
A Classmethod engineer sat the exam on April 18, 2026, before the move to Pearson (Classmethod):
- Score 780, shown as 45/59 correct. The post does not explain the 59.
- Questions were all in English. Japanese is now listed as available.
- Taken online. The author did not finish every item in 120 minutes.
- The result took over a month. The FAQ now says the badge email "usually arrives within minutes" for online exams.
Use it for pacing. One sitting under an older setup tells you nothing about pass rates.
What is still unknown?
Not stated in the guide or on the official pages we checked:
- Pass rates. Nobody outside Anthropic has published them.
- Unscored items. The guide mentions "scored items" but gives no count.
- Partial credit on multiple-response items.

Which statement about the Claude Certified Architect – Foundations exam matches the official sources?
A) The credential is valid for two years, and renewal requires a proctored retake. B) A candidate who scores 40% in one domain fails, even with a total scaled score above 720. C) Each sitting presents 4 scenarios drawn from a bank of 6, with 60 items in 120 minutes. D) Anyone with a personal email can register, because the Anthropic Academy courses are public.
Answer: C. Section 3 of the exam guide states 60 items, 4 scenarios from a bank of 6, and 120 minutes.
- A is wrong twice: validity is 12 months, and on-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment.
- B is wrong: pass or fail uses the total scaled score.
- D confuses public courses with the certification. Registration needs a partner work email.
Key takeaways
- CCAR-F: 60 items, 4 of 6 scenarios, 120 minutes, scaled 720 to pass, $125, valid 12 months.
- Most wrong numbers predate the June 30, 2026 switch to Pearson and the $125 price.
- Pass or fail depends on your total score. No per-domain cut score exists.
- Registration needs a work email at a Claude Partner Network organization.
- Plan for the 48-hour cancellation rule, even though the guide says 24 hours.
Frequently asked questions
60 items, multiple-choice and multiple-response, and each item says how many answers to pick. With 120 minutes, that is two minutes per item, including scenario reading.
12 months from the award date. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment on the Anthropic Partner Academy. After a lapse you retake the full exam at full fee.
Not at the moment. Exams are open to people at Claude Partner Network organizations, using a work email on a registered domain. Anthropic's announcement says membership is free for organizations bringing Claude to market.
The certification FAQ says the exam and prep content are available in English and Japanese. The exam guide itself does not mention languages.
