Claude Architect Exam: Cost, Eligibility & How to Register
Claude Certified Architect cost, how to register, reschedule and retake rules, renewal, and CCA-F vs CCAR-F, all from the official exam guide.
Before you spend $125 and two hours on the Claude Certified Architect exam, you want to know who can sit it, how booking works, and what happens if you fail or need to move the date. This page collects the official rules from the exam guide in one place, and clearly marks the parts that only come from other candidates.
Claude Certified Architect exam at a glance
Everything in this table comes from the official exam guide (version 1.0, effective July 2026):

| Exam code | CCAR-F |
| Items | 60, multiple-choice and multiple-response (each item says how many to pick) |
| Structure | 4 scenarios drawn at random from a bank of 6 |
| Time limit | 120 minutes |
| Delivery | Proctored by Pearson VUE, online or at a test center |
| Passing score | Scaled 720 on a 100–1,000 scale |
| Fee | $125 USD per attempt |
| Validity | 12 months from the date the credential is awarded |

CCA-F vs CCAR-F. Forums, blog posts and course titles often write "CCA-F". The official code printed on the guide is CCAR-F. Same exam. Use CCAR-F when you search official pages or contact support.
Per-domain percentages on the score report are feedback only; pass or fail depends on the total scaled score. The study roadmap covers the five domains.
How to register for the Claude certification
The guide lists the steps:
- Open the certification page for the exam on the Anthropic Partner Academy and review the details.
- Download the exam guide and read the Certification Terms and Conditions and the Certification Exam Policy.
- Register and pay at checkout. The price shown reflects any discount for your partner tier.
- Follow the confirmation instructions to create a Pearson VUE account, then sign in to schedule.
- Pick a date and choose online proctoring or a Pearson test center.
Rescheduling. You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your appointment. Changes inside that 24-hour window forfeit the fee. Missing the exam or arriving after the late-arrival window also forfeits the fee, and you have to register again.
ID. Bring a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID. The name must match your registration exactly. To fix a name, email [email protected] before you schedule. For anything else about registration, scheduling, accommodations or results, the guide points you to Pearson VUE support.
Accommodations must be requested and approved by Pearson VUE before you book. Do not schedule first.
Who is eligible?
The guide describes the ideal candidate (a solution architect with around 6+ months of hands-on work across the Claude API, Agent SDK, Claude Code and MCP), but it does not list formal prerequisites. What it does say is that registration runs through the Anthropic Partner Academy and that pricing can depend on partner tier.
Candidates and third-party sites report that access currently goes through the Claude Partner Network and that you sign up with a work email. Treat that as reported by candidates, not confirmed here. Check the official certification page before you plan around it, because access rules can change.
Anthropic Academy courses are not the certification
Anthropic publishes free courses through Anthropic Academy. They are useful prep, but completing them does not earn the CCAR-F credential. Only passing the proctored exam does.
Retakes, validity and recertification
Retake waits. If you fail, you wait before trying again, and the wait grows: 14 days after the first failure, 30 days after the second, 90 days after the third. You can take the exam at most four times in a rolling 12-month period. Each attempt costs the full fee.
Validity. The credential lasts 12 months from the award date.
On-time renewal is free. You review what changed since you certified and complete a non-proctored assessment on the Anthropic Partner Academy. If you let the credential lapse, you retake the full exam at the full fee. If the exam content changes significantly, Anthropic may require a full retake instead of the renewal assessment.
Conduct. Before the exam starts you accept a confidentiality agreement. Declining ends the session with no refund. Sharing exam content can lead to an invalidated result, a revoked credential and a ban.
Is the Claude Certified Architect exam worth it?
Nobody outside Anthropic has published pass rates, and we will not guess at them or at salary effects. Here is what we can say honestly:
- The cost is low but recurring. $125 per attempt, plus a renewal every 12 months. Renewal is free only if you do it on time.
- The prep is useful on its own terms. The task statements cover things you hit in real projects: when hooks beat prompt instructions, how to structure escalation, how to keep long-context agents on track.
- It is new. Some employers and clients will not recognize it yet. If your company is a Claude partner, it may carry more weight there.
Checklist before you book
- Confirm on the official page that your account has access to the exam.
- Check that the name on your Partner Academy profile matches your ID character for character.
- Decide online vs test center. For online, test your webcam, clear your desk and plan for no second monitor.
- Request accommodations before you schedule, if you need them.
- Book a date you will not need to move inside 24 hours.
- Take at least one full timed mock. Sixty items in 120 minutes leaves two minutes per item, and scenarios take reading time. See the mock exam strategy.
- If English is not your first language, review the phrasing the exam uses in English exam terms.
Key takeaways
- CCAR-F is the official code. "CCA-F" is community shorthand for the same exam.
- 60 items, 4 of 6 scenarios, 120 minutes, scaled 720/1000 to pass, $125 per attempt.
- Reschedule at least 24 hours ahead or lose the fee. Retake waits are 14, 30, then 90 days, with up to four attempts per rolling year.
- The credential lasts 12 months. On-time renewal is a free online assessment; a lapse means paying for the full exam again.
- Work-email and partner-network access is reported by candidates. Verify it on the official page.
